JoAnn Holmes (“Jo”) practices in the areas of digital asset law (NFTs, DAOs, the metaverse, and blockchain tech) and intellectual property licensing. She helps innovators, brands and creators monetize IP, build Web3 revenue, and manage evolving legal risks.
Jo advises digital asset clients on a variety of issues including NFT launches, brand partnerships, DAO governance, and metaverse assets. She provides strategy sessions to help design and launch Web3 products and services, legal consultations for early stage projects, and recurring advisory services for scaling organizations.
Over her 20+ year career, Jo has closed profitable deals with respected brands like Disney, Microsoft, and the NFL. She oversees IP portfolios spanning 125+ countries, and has managed intangible assets generating over $2 billion in annual revenue. Jo serves on the inaugural Blockchain Law for Social Good Center board, and is featured among the global Top 100 Women of the Future™. She regularly advises elite accelerators like Techstars, Dapper Labs and the Atlanta Blockchain Center. In 2022, Jo spoke more than 30 times in the US and abroad, delivering pragmatic insights on blockchain law and Web3 revenue strategies for both public audiences, and in private corporate workshops.
Beyond her legal practice, Jo is committed to service work. She recently completed tenure on the Stanford National Black Alumni Association board of directors. And Jo presently serves on the board for two organizations supporting immigrant, and low income, children’s education. Since founding HOLMES@LAW, Jo has dedicated hundreds of hours to community service.
